I'm very proud, happy and jealous for you! I'm sure this will be one of the best decisions that you could make. Your kids will never be this age again, you will never be this young again, and you have the world before you! Work will always be there to be had!

Best wishes, JennieG :)

We are seriously looking at ways to keep me home. Getting laid off has hurt financially, but really, it has made my children soooooooo much happier. My hubs too, even though I found blogging :D and other things to occupy my time. They are all happier. My husband actually said he would rather file personal bankruptcy than see me go back to work. We shall see.

GOOD LUCK with you new endeavors. I think it is a BRAVE move!

Awesome.

I am so glad you were able to make the right decision for you and your family. That is HUGE.

We all struggle with "life balance" and I am a huuuuge proponent of making sure when you work for yourself that you also take time for yourself. It's hard to do, and you might feel guilty, but I really encourage you to "indulge" once in awhile and take it all in.

Congrats, lady! A big step! An exciting step!

I would love to stay at home, but I am a single mom. If Brian and I get married, I could work part time (while the kids are in school) but I truly believe kids benefit from being home with a parent, if it is at all possible.

So, I say, Good for you. Your boys are lucky (not so) little boys.

I left my job at a large IP law firm in Denver a little over a year ago and never looked back!

The company was a GREAT place to work! They had tons of fringe benefits. Heck they even flew me and hubby out to San Francisco for a fancy holiday party, all expenses paid.

The specific job was a not a good fit for me. I was so overtired and stressed that I was a horrible mother and wife. I swear I was on the nerve of a breakdown everyday.

Leaving that job and the fincial security it provided as well as benefits such as health insurance was a risky move for me.

It was worth it! I was able to be home with kids and watch a child in my home and earn income on the side. When we moved to Maryland I looked into to professional jobs but the pay was not worth the costs for me both for daycare and stress. Instead I now nanny 36 hours per week 4 days per week. My bosses both work for the school district and I follow my children's schedule. Once you subtract for daycare and commuting costs my net pay as a nanny is actually more than at the law firm.

I still struggle with balance with the sheer chaos of managing a household of 5 people. From all the kids activities, to meal planning, and laundry, and chores, running a household is a more than full-time job but you do what you have to do and try to find balance where you can.

Best of luck to you! And congratulations on making a decision that works for both you and your family.

Kudos to you for making such a hard decision. I also have 2 boys of similar ages and have felt the need from time to time to spread my own wings only to find that I can only spread them so far without my little guys falling out from under them. They still need me as much as they did when they were little. Good luck through this new phase!
