Why can’t you throw a fit? My mother got plenty mad sometimes–and to my knowledge it never did me any long term harm. Sometimes you just have to handle it that way.

Sometimes my mother used to just give us her “mommy”–that was all she needed. Sometimes when I worked retail, kids needed that. So what if they weren’t my kids? They stopped messing around and tearing up the merchandise displays.

I do this all the time. Sometimes (particularly when Hubby is home) I even throw in some tears (only thing that gets me a GNO these days). Let’s them know that they have gone to far, and reminds them that I am THE lady of the house and if I wanna cry then I’m gonna cry and they are gonna watch and give me hugs and be nice to me. Benefit of living in a house full of dudes…tears actually work! So, if you get tired of yelling at yours feel free to come give mine a good scream. They pretty much need one at least once a day anyway:)

Motherhood is SO frustrating.

What, that’s not normal for you?? It’s status quo in my house. So now, when I throw a fit, they just ignore me. BUT I’ve learned other ways, especially when it involves video games. It’s called “the power button.” Oh yes, I have turned off many a game. If you don’t listen to me when I give the 15, 10, 5 and 1 minute warning it goes off. No chance to save it. Sorry. It’s a good wake up call. :0)

You may need therapy. The usual mommy response, at least based on my limited knowledge of mommies, is to get very quiet and sulk in the corner, pretending to not hear anyone else rather than have a hissy fit.

That’s Dad’s job.
