I Am Over This Whole Relaxing Thing

I’m a mom to two boys.  My life moves at a manic pace.  (I suspect that I am not much different than any other parents out there.)

You would think that I would welcome the opportunity to relax.  And I did.  If you would have asked me about it on December 23 or 24, I would have told you that I was all about taking some much needed time off to relax with family over the holiday break.

Well, not any more.

I’ve been visiting for far too long. I am quite literally, going stir crazy.  There is no laundry to fold. No floors to mop. No projects to complete.  It is just me, my husband and my children relaxing at my sister-in-law’s house.  AND I AM FREAKING OUT.

What is wrong with me?!

Have you ever heard of something so warped in all of your life?  What kind of idiot can’t handle relaxation?

THIS IDIOT.  That is who.

Somebody do me a favor.  Next time you see me complaining about being incredibly busy and not being able to breathe and blah, blah, bah…. REMIND ME about this very post and how I can’t deal with too much relaxation.

What’s my advice? Have a glass of wine.. or two… or three.

Oh I totally knew you would be the first one to jump on that bandwagon! hehe! ;)

  4. The typical definition of relaxing is wrong. We should be looking for things that recharge us. That is, things that makes us appreciate we’re alive and healthy. For some people, that means chilling with a glass of wine. For others, it’s diving into a lost hobby. And still for others it’s something bigger like a vacation.

So to really “relax” you need to do something you really enjoy that you haven’t had a chance to do because you’ve been too busy.

OK, getting off of my soapbox now :-)

I find it much more relaxing when I have nothing to do and I’m the only one home.
