A Little Light Reading Or An Obsession In Need Of An Intervention?

A Little Light ReadingMy mom has always joked that I am the SELF-HELP QUEEN OF THE WORLD.  She claims that I can never do anything without reading up on it first.  Alas, she is probably right.

Case in point – my newest reading pile.

At the moment I am trying to power through five books.  Two I have read previously so they are just a “review.”  Two are faith-based and the other is a fab diet book called “The Skinny.”  (I’m hoping that when I finish it I will be miraculously thin and fabulous! I can dream, right?)

Just  a little “light reading.”

I really do have an obsession with books.  I love the smell of their pages- old or new.  I love the feel of their spine in my hands.  Nothing makes me happier than to cozy up with a book and a cup of coffee on a cold, rainy day.  I could easily spend a week in a book store and never come up for air.  My dream is to one day author my own.

When my kids were little, they used to tell me that I was Belle from the cartoon Beauty and the Beast.  Now that they are older, they just compare me to Hermione of the Harry Potter series.  Like both of those gals I always seem to have a couple of books with me.  I try to sneak in a chapter whenever I can.  (You know – grocery line, bus stop, waiting for laundry to finish, meeting running late…)

The challenge with this obsession of mine is that I can never have enough.  I always feel like there are at least three more books that I should be reading.  I literally have 10 surrounding my nightstand at any given time.

I guess it is no wonder that I never sleep.

PS – Yes, I know I am a slacker and haven’t posted any pictures from the Disney trip. Alright, already!  Quit yellin’ at me!  I’ll put them on my Flickr account this weekend.  (My husband took 1,586 pictures. That is not an exaggeration.)

I wish I had time for more reading. I used to tear through books at an alarming rate. Life just doesn’t present very many “reading” opportunities any more!

    Happy reading!

OMG, you are so funny! My bookshelf reads like both a self-help and diet section of the bookstore. And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it! I just came across your blog and think it’s adorable, too, by the way.
