The Library Is Ruining My Credit Rating
Am I the only person in the world who has had their credit score nearly ruined by the public library? I don’t know why, but I just can’t seem to return library books by their DUE DATE. I really should just buy the darn books outright. (I end up paying for them anyway by the time all is said and done.)
I am ashamed to admit this but I have literally been reported to various credit agencies for collections all throughout my life. I inevitably return/pay just in time to squeak by and salvage what is left of my dignity. Albeit BARELY.
My husband is completely flummoxed by the situation. (Sorry. Had to use the word. I’ve never been able to before! ) He says there must be some weird cosmic force out there with the sole purpose of preventing me from reaching my library destination for months or years at a time.
And he is right.
I can’t tell you how many times I have had a library book in my car and have driven right by the darn building and forgotten to drop it off. I’m fairly certain the last book was in my car for at least a four week stretch. At that point I just ended up bringing the darn book back into the house until the cycle began again.
But it is not all bad. Libraries actually LOVE ME. I fund most of their new release sections with my penalty fees.
Just ask my husband.
I am with you. I get caught with the library videos. I only wish I could deduct the money I spend at the library as a charitable contribution. It would really help my tax situation!

This is nuts! So you have to pay full price for a 1o year old used copy?
I don’t go to the library because we have to pay 3oo bucks a year library fee for the Taj ma library that was built down the street. If you don’t pay they put a lien on your house. I have such a hate for this bull shit that I don’t go..I may have a burst out in front of children so I just stay away!

LMAO!!! That is why I don’t borrow books from the library. I just buy them. Although, now that I have a Nook and I can borrow digital books from the library, I’m getting a library card. But I signed up online and have YET to go to the library to pick up the darn card. So….I get it!

Listen, I have had that problem with my library. BUT, I always return the books, and they have a bunch of f’tards working there who can’t for the life of them properly check the books back in. I cannot drop them off in the overnight return anymore. I have to make sure they check them in or I get nasty grams!

I just paid off my £9.89 fine from my library. They shortened the borrow time from 4 weeks to 3 weeks – years ago now – and I just can’t seem to get my head around that!
