It is running season again and I am here to tell you that I couldn’t be happier! For quite some time my running partners and I were having scheduling issues and couldn’t quite seem to get in a groove.
But the weather broke and slowly but surely we are easing back into the ole Saturday morning long run routine. (Just in time, too. I was beginning to loose my marbles without my therapeutic long runs.)
Today Lori and I conquered nine miles together.
This is what it looked like outside my door when I left to hit the hills this morning.
Lots of it.
And it was dark.
The goal these days is aiming to be ready for the 2012 Frederick 1/2 Marathon on May 6th. (Shhh… don’t tell my husband. He’ll just roll his eyes.) My ultimate goal for the year though, is to somehow make it back to New York to run in the New York Marathon on November 4th. We will see how that shakes out. It is more a matter of getting in rather than training. I know that I can train for it, I am just hoping to hit the proverbial marathon lottery and get myself a bib.
In the meantime I am aiming to keep my IT band injury in check. I’ve really got to get serious about foam rolling and weight training and yes, even yoga to get a grip on this sucker. (Not to mention dropping a few pounds to release some pressure. But that is another blog post…)
In any rate, I’m happy to report that I am still on target to hit between 500 – 1,000 miles run in 2012. Woot!
