Anyone else struggle with hydration while in training? It sometimes seems like a never ending concoction of sports drinks, water and chocolate milk.
I tried something the other day that is making me rethink my hydration solutions, though. It is called ZICO (specifically, ZICO- Dark Chocolate) and it is a delicious combination of coconut water and dark-chocolate flavor.
A study recently published in Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise showed that coconut water replenishes body fluids as well as a sports drink and better than water.
ZICO is literally loaded with electrolytes: sodium, magnesium, calcium, potassium and phosphorus. The drink contains as much potassium as a banana, which goes a long way towards prevent cramping. (Ouch. I hate those!)
And bonus for those of you with dietary concerns, ZICO is gluten-free, lactose-free and dairy-free and has half the calories and sugar of regular chocolate milk.
I encourage you to give it a try. Not a fan of dark chocolate? (Neither is my husband.) They offer natural, mango, passion fruit, latte and strawberry-banana. Now, I’ve only tried dark chocolate but they all sound quite delish.
