I saw the book “I Dare Me” in a Barnes & Noble and casually mentioned (okay, heavily suggested) to my husband that it would make a great Christmas gift.

He is a good listener, that man of mine.

I finished the book a few days later and found myself quite literally FIRED UP. I’d wager a guess that it has the potential to become the battle cry of every woman who has ever felt stuck in their lives.

I Dare Me“I Dare Me” is author Luann Cahn’s detailed memoir of her quest to get unstuck and tackle one new thing every day of the year. For 365 days she made a pledge to do something she had never done before (a “first”), be it something as simple as trying a new food or extreme like zip-lining across a crocodile-infested Mexican lake.

The point of the entire exercise, as I see it, is to open one’s self up to new experiences in order to recognize the wonders in front of us. To force yourself to break out of your rut and experience life in a different way.

“As adults we forget to play. We forget to say yes to new experiences,” says Cahn. “Even a small risk creates new energy and possibilities around you. And all of those things bring joy and reinvigorate your life.”

Can you relate? I know that I can.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not unhappy. I have a job that I love with colleagues I genuinely care about. I have a beautiful house and family I adore. My health is perfect. I am blessed, and I know it.

I’m just not about to pass up the opportunity to amp up life a bit.
