BlogHer Approacheth: Preparing To Be Fake

Image representing BlogHer as depicted in Crun...

If you meet me at Blogher next week know one thing: I am going to be entirely fake.

And I admit it.

Which counts for something, doesn’t it?

But I am doing it for YOU.  So that I don’t scare the living hell out of you when you meet me.  So that I somewhat resemble my profile picture. Heh.

In the next couple of days I have every manner of appointment scheduled: hair, nails, feet… you name it and I’ve scheduled it.  Except lipo and Botox because, well, my husband doesn’t love me.  If he loved me he would have agreed.  OBVIOUSLY.

I’ve even gone SHOPPING for you.  My $5.00 WalMart shoes broke last week after four years of service.  Perfect timing.  My tried-and-true black pants are splitting from my ever expanding waistline and my favorite shirts have been slobbered and sauced upto the nth degree by the youngsters.  It is better that you don’t see me that way.  I like my little blog-protected-world.

You know, shopping for most that gals that I know is a treat. For moi? Notsomuch.  I can never seem to find something that fits me when I have money and when I don’t (like today) I find a ton of things. Problem is, I don’t want to buy the clothes because I am working on losing weight for the marathon and so I don’t want to be in this size much longer.

I really hate being a woman sometimes.

But I digress… So if all goes according to my evil plan, when I arrive at the convention, my hair will be freshly cut and dyed.  I will have manicured nails and such.  I will be wearing clothing that my children haven’t ravaged yet.  In short, I will be a completely fake representation of myself.

Which makes me realize that if I offend someone’s sensibilities then I have no one to blame but myself.  Oh hell.  Didn’t think of that.

C’est la vie!

Win A Sponsorship To Blogher 2010 From SEED at Hip As I Wanna Be!

DO YOU WANT TO WIN A SPONSORSHIP TO BLOGHER 2010?

Well, then it is time to speak up and start talking about SEED!

SEED Power (a line of all natural body care) is providing some lucky ladies with the chance to attend BlogHer 21010 in NYC with their fabulous SEEDS OF INSPIRATION contest.  Not only will the winner receive a $250 CASH sponsorship, but they will also be VIP guests at an exclusive, swanky NYC PAR-TAY the Friday night of the convention.  (And let me tell you – from what I hear it will be FAB-U-LOUS!)

HERE IS HOW ENTER THE SEEDS OF INSPIRATION BLOGHER 2010 SPONSORSHIP CONTEST:

Visit the Seed Website and read about the products and the founder’s story.

Write a blog post about how the products, philosophy or owner’s story INSPIRE YOU to nurture your own entrepreneurial spirit, live a more organic lifestyle OR make a more positive environmental impact! The post must include a link to the SEED website within it and a mention and link back to this contest to be considered. Then come back to Hip As I Wanna Be and link up!

A COUPLE OF OTHER RULES, BABY:

All contestants must ALSO complete the following steps for their entry to be considered:

  • Visit the SEED website and join their community via email
  • Follow @SeedPower on Twitter
  • Tweet the following “I’m inspired by @SEEDpower & the SEEDs of Inspiration #blogher10 #sponsorship contest http://bit.ly/b2oQDM #pickmeseed”
  • Become a fan of SEED on FaceBook

{And don’t forget to leave a comment letting the contest host (ME!) know you completed these steps}

Submit your entry via Mr. Linky below and then you are done!

BUT THERE IS ONE MORE THING, LADIES... The fact that you can enter to win once a week until the contest closes. Just create a new post, link up again and tweet!  The coolness, never ends does it?  And if you want extra chances to win in a different way, you can enter each week over at Chicken Nuggets of Wisdom (Whrrl contest) and Makeover Momma (Vlog contest) as well.

Each entry must be unique and not simply the submission of the previous week’s entry.

Winners who have followed the submission rules will then have their entries judged by SEED on the following criteria: creativity, originality, interpretation of the theme.

SEED Power Body Care will choose the winner of the contest as well as several other winners who will get invitations to the swank-tastic invite only party being hosted on Saturday August 5th, 2010 by SEED.  BTW – Hip As I Wanna Be, though partially sponsored to BlogHer 2010 by SEED, will have no part in the selection process and is simply hosting this contest.

Contest ends March 31, 2010 at 11:00 p.m. PST. Winners will be announced on the SEED website on or about April 9, 2010.  (But it might be a good idea to follow “me” on Twitter and fan Hip As I Wanna Be on Facebook to make sure you are up to date on the contest 411.)

AND…. because they are a truly fabulous company, Seed is also offering the readers of Hip As I Wanna Be a discount on their products.  To order some fabulous products using your special discount code, click here.

NOTE: I AM A TECHNO MORON! For some reason the comments are closed. Just email me at jlgerlock@comcast.net and I will make sure SEED gets them!

BlogHer Bound!

I did it.  I jumped in with both feet…

I bought my conference pass for BlogHer 2010.  I am beyond excited!

At this point I only know two people  who are also planning on attending in August.  So if YOU are planning on going… PLEASE, PLEASE leave me a comment or shoot me an email (jlgerlock at comcast.net) so we can get to know one another well in advance.

I am truly looking forward to the experience.  Especially considering that I totally STALKED BlogHer on Twitter this year. Anyone who at any time mentioned BlogHer on Twitter was known to me.  I read the blogs.  I checked out pictures. I played the Whrrl stories.

Obsessed?  Me?  Just a little.

(As an aside, I am still open to conference sponsorship.  Please contact me directly for details and arrangements.)

What I Learned This Week…Toothpaste, Swim Diapers, Blogher Stalking and Friendship

I’m participating in a pretty interesting blog carnival called What I Learned This Week.  (Hosted by Musings of a Housewife.)What I Learned This Week I’ve been stalking checking it out for awhile now and instead of waiting until I had something profound to say, I just decided that I might as well jump right in.

DISCLAIMER: Please bear in mind that I totally have ADD and these are ALL OVER THE PLACE. I know, I know…

I have just come to terms with the fact that I will never ever, for as long as I live, EVER remember to put the cap back on the toothpaste. I don’t know why this is impossible for me, I’ve just accepted it. My husband must love me a lot.

I have also learned that my children are fearless in the water. Just yesterday the little guys were wearing floaties and swim diapers. Now they are jumping off the diving board into eight feet of water.  When the hell did that happen?

I can run, weight train and cardio myself to DEATH but if I don’t control the things I put into my mouth I will never keep my weight in check. (Excuse me for a moment while I have a mental rant… @#@#$%&*!!!)

I MUST attend Blogher 2010. To my dismay, I found myself following every blog post leading up to this year’s event. I obsessively monitored the attendees Tweets and Flickr photos. I checked out the live blogging. As much as I tried, I couldn’t help but be supremely jealous of all of the bloggers and their camaraderie. I will be there next year if it kills me.  IF IT KILLS ME! Hmmm, perhaps I should inform the hubby?

And lastly, I  learned that friends are a precious and fleeting gift. Cherish them while you can.
