I guess I should tell you a little bit about myself, huh?  Well, since this is a holiday post, I think it is only right if I share some holiday info about myself… (If you want the real deal, hop on over here. )

Favorite holiday tradition? Christmas Elves.  In our family Christmas Elves are a huge part of the holidays.  You see, we believe that on Thanksgiving Santa dispatches his elves across the world to watch each individual boy and girl until Christmas Eve.  Kind of like SANTA SPIES. (Yes, I get tons of “youbetterbegoodtheelvesarewatching” mileage out of this one.) If you are interested you can read more here.

Tinsel? Actually, yes.  Or should I say... YES! (Exclamation point!) I am AWARE that the majority of the world is inclined to think that hanging tinsel on your Christmas tree is WHITE TRASH.  I get it.  I even agree.  But you know what?  I can’t have a tree without it.  And just so you know….I BLAME MY MOTHER. Who, incidentally, ingrained the need for tinsel into my psyche at a young age and who NO LONGER uses it on HER tree.  Come to think of it… no one else in my family uses tinsel anymore.  They’ve all kicked the habit.  I am the only junkie left in the family and early indicators show that I am already passing the preference along to my children.  Poor things. <heavy sigh>

Holiday Song? “Breath of Heaven” by Amy Grant.  Makes me bawl every time I hear it.  Oh and another favorite  is “Santa’s Got A Brand New Bag” by Shedaisy.  Rockin’!

Favorite Christmas Cookie? Why, chocolate chip of course!  My mom’s recipe.

Favorite gift of all time? An engagement ring from my (now) husband.  Who could ask for anything better than true love? Second runner up, though, was a super tricked out “boom box” in eighth grade.  I was uber cool that year.  And that was the ONLY year.  Coolness evaporated after that.

Favorite Holiday Movie? “Scrooge” starring Albert Finney.  Never heard of that version?  Oh, man…. classic!

So there you have it.  You now know that I am a white trash tinsel loving, cookie eating, eggnog chugging, hopeless romantic who’s coolness ran out after eighth grade.  Aren’t you glad you stopped by?!
