They need to be stimulated. They need to be engaged. Leave them unoccupied for 10 minutes and suddenly all of your expensive lotions and creams are being used as a potions experiment in a locked bathroom somewhere. Ahem. Not that I have had experience with that, of course.
So as the mother of two boys I am constantly on the lookout for things that will tap into their creativity without ruining my house. Literally. Ruining. My. House.
In this family that means Wii games and K’nex. K’nex is like mommy’s little answer to a prayer. I can glean a full hour of uninterrupted work time when I pull out the K’nex. And that is saying something if you know what I mean!
Plus… THEY ARE FUN. As in, fun for the whole family. (Girls included.) My husband and I grab coffee and sit in the playroom with the boys creating all sorts of craziness. (And competing to invent the coolest and most over-the-top stuff.) We’ve been doing this for years.
Look, Tiny Ninja is following the directions!
And not needing any help… (insert Heavenly choir here)
Oh my gosh, they are cooperating! Collaborating even! It is a miracle… (more Heavenly choir music)
(I seriously had to document the moment.)
And, of course, the little one had to be cheeky and make fun of mommy’s camera obsession…
(Glad his Knex version didn’t photograph as well as mine. Heh.)
So, I ask you: Would you like to win a gigantic K’nex prize package? Of course you would! Who wouldn’t want hours of fun?
Almost $100 package! Woo hoo!

DISCLAIMER: I was provided with the same prize pack to review with my family. That being said, we’ve been K’nex fans for years. The day we received our K’nex shipment my son looked at me with big round eyes and said, “This is the best day of my life.” Hilarious.

As a blogger, I have been blessed by many relationships with businesses looking to spread the word about their product or service to others. As a social media marketer I am fortunate to be able to see first-hand best practices and WORST practices at work. Being on the receiving end of many campaigns has given me an interesting perspective, indeed.
I know from experience that some of the readers of this blog are small businesses, corporations and/or public relations representatives. With that in mind, I thought that I might do a quick posting of some of the business articles that I have written on the topic of social media and engagement. Enjoy!

And I don’t care.
I’m kind of tired of trying to explain it to people who refuse to open their minds to new experiences.
Wait a minute.
This post is not going the way that I planned. It is not about complaining. It is about learning. More specifically, what I’ve learned this week. (As part of a weekly series hosted by Musings of a Housewife.)
This past week has been one of the most stressfull in my entire life….No worries. I survived. (Albeit, barely.)
Throughout the week I wasn’t able to participate much in my social medial life or even chat it up with real life friends and family. I felt a little displaced, actually. But despite that, I learned something valuable from my Twitter pals… LAUGHTER. In the midst of all of the craziness, I would pop in and out of conversations and just a laugh out loud at the wit flying back and forth. LAUGH OUT LOUD. I don’t know about you, but that doesn’t happen to me very often.
My Twitter pals taught me how to open myself up to laughter in the midst of what seemed to be a terrifying week. The smile hasn’t left my face yet.
